(Apologies for cross-posting) Dear Group, I have recently joined this group, and thought I should introduce myself. I am a new member of staff at TASI, (Technical Advisory Service for Images, http:// www.tasi.ac.uk/). My role is to develop our understanding of the needs of the FE/HE community with regards to digital images in order to further develop TASI's online materials and also to promote the use of digital images in teaching and learning. I am taking forward the editing of current and development of further Web content in order to meet all potential needs. Therefore, I would welcome your comments and suggestions on how you presently find the information. If you would like TASI to provide specific information that would be of use to you (and/or your community) then please email me directly off-list. Initially you might find these links useful: Practical Ways to Use Digital Images in Teaching and Learning: http://www.tasi.ac.uk/advice/using/use-examples.html Capturing Digital Images: http://www.tasi.ac.uk/advice/using/using_capturing.html as examples of the materials that TASI has produced. A full listing of resources aimed at people using digital images can be found at: http://www.tasi.ac.uk/advice/using/using.html I look forward to hearing from you and many thanks, in advance, for taking the time to participate. Dear Colleagues - SIGGRAPH 2005 - The Computer Arts: Origins and Contexts As previously announced we are convening a Forum as a part of the International Resources Centre at SIGGRAPH 2005 titled The Computer Arts Origins and Contexts. We havent as yet confirmed the exact time and date but it will be held in the in the International Center in their 80-seat auditorium and will last for approx. 90 minutes. http://www.siggraph.org/s2005/ We are hoping that this will build upon the informal birds-of-a-feather meeting many of us attended at SIGGRAPH 2003/4. I'm writing to invite those of you who will be attending SIGGRAPH to participate in this forum and, if you wish, make a short presentation about your research projects. Please contact me if you wish to present and I'll draw up a timetable. Thanks Sue _____________________________________________________________________________ Sue Gollifer Faculty of Arts & Architecture Email:s.c.gollifer@bton.ac.uk University of Brighton Tel: (44) 1273 643042 Grand Parade Fax: (44) 1273 643204 Brighton BN2 0JY Cell phone:(44) 7796446953 http://www.dam.org/gollifer/ ___________________________________________________________________________
