From 2001 to 2016 the consultancy served private colleges in the UK and overseas where they required assistance with programme specification, quality assurance and institutional change.  Some institutions wished to avoid being diverted from their core business, or were unfamiliar with the language and structures of higher education.  Recent work has involved assisting in the establishment of collaborative partnerships and with the preparation of required documentation.
The bulk of my experience had been gained in higher education.  I taught art and design, working a good deal with early computer graphics and was particular interested in both the philosophical thinking of Michael Polanyi and the intellectual tools offered by what is known as systems thinking.  After teaching with Roy Ascott at Ipswich I spent some years Leicester.  During that period I had the great fortune to work with the Open University, where I served as a tutor in Design and was retained as a consultant to the Systems Group.  I became increasingly involved in the efforts being made by Leicester Polytechnic to achieve delegated authority, which brought increasing contact with the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA) and went on to join the CNAA Registry for Art, Design, Performing Arts and Art History, leading the registry team at time of its dissolution.  When I joined Open University Validation Services I was asked to set up and manage an awarding body for higher-level National and Scottish Vocational Qualifications.  In mid-career I undertook research in the Department of Systems at Lancaster University, work that stimulated me to pursue and publish the results of independent research into student learning.
For some years I contributed to the work of the British Accreditation Council, Kosovo Accreditation Agency and private HE institutions.
