The Quantel Paintbox exhibition will be on show at BCS Moorgate from December 2023 until February 2024.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Quantel, the company that first brought digital art and graphics to the masses, the Computer Arts Society are revealing twenty pieces of digital art created on Quantel's Paintbox in the 1980's by some of the world's most famous artists.
A curated set of 20 printed Quantel Paintbox images will be on show throughout May and June at the Phoenix. This will be the first time that this selection of images by international artists, including Keith Haring and David Hockney, have been shown together. The exhibition is part of Phoenix's on-going Collaboration to show exhibitions from the Computer Arts Society. Free entry.
Join us for a presentation about the Quantel Paintbox from photographer, artist and Paintbox user Adrian Wilson and designer and former Quantel employee Kim Mannes-Abbott. There will be an exhibition walkthrough plus a chance to see video of the Paintbox in use. Free entry, but places are limited.
The Quantel Paintbox exhibition comes to London, with a special event to be announced. Please follow the Computer Arts Society social channels for details, once they have been confirmed.
The exhibition catalogue is available as a free downloadable PDF. A limited number of printed copies are also being made available. Copies can be purchased from the Computer Arts Archive Shop, subject to availability. A signed exhibition print is also available.
